In sunny Lisbon, the 1st Unite! Student Festival will take place in June. The number of spots for the Wroclaw Tech representation is limited, but the winner of this competition will have their spot guaranteed! All you need to do is shoot an interesting film from one day of your life

 

The Student Festival in Lisbon is an international event for students from nine partner universities of Unite!. At the end of June and beginning of July, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (PWr) delegation will actively work on the direction and form of future European universities at the University of Lisbon. Besides substantive activities, there will also be time to get to know the charms of Portugal better.

The number of spots in the student group representing Wroclaw Tech is very limited, but Unite! has prepared an additional chance to secure a spot in this group earlier through participation in the competition.

One day, one film, one student.

The rules of the competition are simple, and every student can participate. Just shoot a film showing one day in your life and sign up via the form available on the Metacampus platform. The aim of the competition is to showcase the diversity and interculturality that are important to the Unite! community.

Guidelines:

Individual submission by a Wroclaw Tech  student (students of all levels of education, international students, and exchange students can participate in the competition),
Film theme: a day in the life of a student from waking up to going to sleep, including the morning, the journey to university, time at PWr, afternoon activities, and evening time,
Maximum film length is three minutes,
Film resolution – minimum 1080p, preferred Full HD quality,
Language – optional, but it’s worth including subtitles in English (even if the film is shot in English),
Submissions – registration via Metacampus by March 30th.

Winners from each of the nine partner universities will be selected in two stages:

The Multilingual and Multicultural Training Centre will prepare the first list of finalists based on established criteria.
Students will vote for the best film among those selected in the first stage of submissions and choose one winner from each university.
The prize for the competition is an invitation to the Student Festival, which will take place in Lisbon from June 29th to July 1st (the university covers transportation and accommodation costs).

Another exceptional offer from Unite! for students of Wrocław University of Science and Technology – you can obtain a master’s degree from two technical universities belonging to Unite! As a result, you will also receive a European academic degree.

 

We invite you to participate in the Unite! Master’s Programme in Communications and Data Science (CoDaS). This is a joint master’s study program offered by three universities belonging to the Unite! network: Aalto University from Finland, the French University Grenoble INP, and Técnico Lisboa from Portugal.

Each of these universities will recruit students for the first year of the program according to its limit and recruitment processes. Then, students will move to another partner university for the second year of the program. For example, a student who is admitted to Aalto University will go to Grenoble INP or Técnico Lisboa for the second year of studies.

The study program covers the most current issues relevant to the development of modern engineering fields. Graduates will have competencies in areas such as electrical engineering, automation, programming, communication, data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, network and Internet of Things security.

Additionally, during the studies, students will be able to acquire specialized knowledge in techniques covering a wide range of mathematics, signal and systems modeling and analysis, data science, AI, cybersecurity, networks, and distributed systems.

How to apply?

You must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical and computer engineering. A good mathematical background is required, as many Data Science and AI courses are based on this field.

Before our students there  is still the summer semester of study, but it’s already worth thinking about what comes next, especially since we have good news. The Unite! Consortium is organizing attractive summer courses!

This is a unique opportunity to acquire new skills, deepen knowledge, expand international contacts, and spend the summer break at one of the best European technical universities. Grenoble Ginsen Summer School 2023

Ginsen Summer School is a summer undergraduate study program entirely conducted in English, organized by Grenoble INP Graduate Schools of Engineering and Management, Université Grenoble Alpes.

In the heart of the French Alps, you will study at one of the highest-rated French engineering institutes and have the chance to work in state-of-the-art research centers and enhance your knowledge in the field of energy or nanotechnology.

What’s in the program?

Ginsen offers 2 options that allow you to discover and deepen knowledge in your chosen engineering field: nanotechnology or Smart Energy.

The two-week program includes:
academic classes (some are common to both options, others are specific to each field),
practical workshops,
a rich social and cultural program, including visits to world-class research centers, guided tours of Grenoble and its surroundings, game tournaments, pub quizzes, etc.

For Whom?

Micro_and_Nanotechnology – the program is aimed at students of physics, biology, chemistry, applied physics, telecommunications, materials science, or electrical engineering, bachelor’s and first year of master’s studies.

Smart_Energy – this program is available to computer science or energy engineering students (bachelor’s and first year of master’s studies).

The Finnish Aalto University has another set of noteworthy course offerings for students. This time in the form of a Summer School, both as part of the Erasmus+ Blended intensive programs.

Design thinking and product development – Unite!

Discover the product development process, in theory and practice, in an intensive Erasmus+ Blended program conducted by Aalto University Summer School (https://www.aalto.fi/en/aalto-university-summer-school/design-thinking-and-product-development-unite), Design Factory, and Unite!.

This course will teach you how modern technology is utilized in user-oriented prototyping processes. The program covers the theory and practice of design thinking and its applications in various contexts.

It is primarily aimed at students of design and engineering in their second and third year of undergraduate studies. Other disciplines may be accepted if there are still available slots.

Important Information:

Application Deadline – March 1st – May 15th.
Course Dates – August 7th – 25th, 3 weeks.
Fees – the course is free of charge.

Communications engineering and data science summer course – Unite!

This is another summer course proposal from Aalto University. This time, you have the opportunity to gain knowledge about communication and data science for industrial applications.

Communication networks generate vast amounts of data, coming from both customers and network operators. Telecommunication operators and other major players in the industry are highly interested in experts in both telecommunications and data science. This course will help you become such an expert.

The course offering will cover a range of current, industry-relevant topics related to mathematics, signal and system modeling and analysis, electronics, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. It is intended for third-year engineering undergraduate and master’s students in technical fields such as computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering.

Course Dates – August 21st – September 1st, 2 weeks.
Fees – the course is free of charge.

Are you interested? That’s great! Together with your colleagues from any other university belonging to the Unite! network, prepare a video showing a specific and implementable idea to improve the network’s universities’ activities.

The project is not academic in nature but must fit into at least one of the four thematic areas:

• Diversity and inclusion,
• Academic experience, mobility, and languages,
• Environment and sustainable development,
• Digitalization.

How to apply?

Prepare a short video presentation of your project (max 10 min) and fill out the application form on Unite! Metacampus. You have until January 31st to do so.

The best project will be implemented, and its authors will participate in the Unite! Student Festival in Lisbon in June (organizers cover all travel expenses).

“The course was conducted by lecturers from Aalto University in Espoo. It consisted of four modules and covered the basics of written Finnish, the most useful phrases, and vocabulary. It is mainly intended for people who plan to study in Finland. At the end of each module, there was one larger task to complete, such as writing with other students and answering their questions on the course forum, describing your day at university (with photos from campus) or watching a Finnish movie and describing your feelings (thanks to this, my girlfriend and I spent the whole evening watching Moomins in Finnish, having the excuse that it was part of the course 🙂 “.

The ULISSES Project! returns with its IV edition.

The Interdisciplinary Studies on Sustainable Environment and Seas (ULISSES) at the University of Lisbon is a project that will provide students with in-depth knowledge about ocean-related issues. Applications for the IV edition of the ULISSES project can be submitted until December 15th.

ULISSES  is a project at the University of Lisbon that offers students from nine European universities affiliated with the UNITE! network deep knowledge about ocean-related issues. They will work together to form one interdisciplinary and international team.

For the first time this year, students from Wrocław University of Science and Technology can participate in this project.

The project is aimed at students who want to join a multidisciplinary team that will work over several weeks to present solutions for sustainable ocean use, with completion resulting in earning ECTS points.

Why join ULISSES?

• You will work on an exciting project within an international and interdisciplinary team supported by academic assistants and experts in each field.
• You will network and collaborate with students from other universities and countries.
• You will deepen your knowledge about the ocean and its significance for the sustainable development of our planet.

Participation in the project is free of charge. Additionally, the program includes mobility within the Erasmus+ program, meaning that students from the EU and other Erasmus+ partner countries can apply for scholarships to cover travel and accommodation expenses at their home institution.
