Wrocław University of Science and Technology Launches the UNITE! Widening Digital Campus

On 21 November 2025, Wrocław Tech will host the Digital Campus Presentation, an event that will officially inaugurate the UNITE! Widening Digital Campus – a shared European virtual space connecting universities, researchers, students, and external partners across Europe.

The UNITE! Widening Digital Campus initiative aims to build a collaborative network between academia and industry while developing modern tools to support innovation and technology transfer.

During the event, the AGORA portal – a joint achievement of the universities within the alliance – will be presented. The platform collects data that facilitates partnerships between research institutions and companies, showcasing, among other things, selected research offers from laboratories as well as profiles of organizations engaged in technology transfer and innovation development. Participants will also have the opportunity to speak with the creators of the platform, who will join the event virtually.

The program will include presentations from representatives of Wrocław’s business sector, who will share their experiences of collaborating with universities and propose how UNITE! tools can more effectively support entrepreneurs and stimulate science–business cooperation.

Call for Applications: Join SURE!

Are you passionate about student engagement and international collaboration? Become part of SURE (Students in Unite! for Representation and Empowerment), the student-led body representing the voice of learners across the Unite! university alliance. We’re currently looking for students and doctoral candidates from Wrocław Tech to join this international forum.

We’re Looking for You!

We encourage applications from students and PhD candidates who:

  • Are currently enrolled at Wrocław Tech,

  • Have a minimum english proficiency level of B2,

  • Are active in student life, student organizations, or international projects,

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively in diverse environments,

  • Are ready to attend regular online meetings.

Twice a year, SURE representatives from across the alliance meet in person for Dialogues—week-long gatherings hosted by one of the partner universities. The next Dialogue will take place this October at Aalto University in Finland. These meetings are where key decisions about the direction and priorities of Unite! are made.

How to Apply

To participate in the open call, fill in the application form where we’ll ask about:

  • Your current study status and academic background,

  • Your experience within the Wrocław Tech community or in student/international initiatives,

  • Your motivation to join SURE.

Selected applicants will be invited to an interview conducted by current SURE representatives, with support from the Student Liaison Officer.

Let’s Unite! Come and explore the Unite! alliance opportunities

Research internships, joint research projects, online seminars, additional scholarships – these are just some of the opportunities offered by the Unite! alliance for students, PhD candidates, and staff of Wrocław University of Science and Technology. We’ll present the details on April 15 at the Student Culture Zone during the Let’s Unite! fair.

Unite! is an alliance of nine European technical universities, established to create a modern model of university education. Alongside Wrocław Tech, the alliance includes: Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Spain), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), University Grenoble Alpes (France), Graz University of Technology (Austria), Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden), and Aalto University (Finland).

Being part of the consortium, as explained by Prof. Renata Krzyżyńska, Vice-Rector for External Relations, is a great opportunity for the entire Wrocław Tech community. – Innovation arises where resources meet. And our alliance has a great deal of resources – 280,000 students and tens of thousands of researchers and administrative staff. Add to that infrastructure worth billions, including research facilities, enabling the development of new technologies. It opens up completely new perspectives for us – says Prof. Krzyżyńska.

The scope of Unite! initiatives is constantly expanding, which is why we’re organizing this event. – We want every student and staff member to know where to find the offer catalogues and how to make the most of them. During Let’s Unite!, attendees will have a chance to meet people directly involved in the alliance who will explain the available programs for each group – students, PhD candidates, researchers, and administrative staff – explains Anna Hejno, Director of the Center for International Relations. The program also includes short talks highlighting the idea behind the alliance and its development prospects.

Open science trainings for spring 2025

Aalto University organises a free webinar training series on research data management and open science and invites researchers, students and service staff from Unite! to participate.

Webinars are organised by Aalto University Data Agents, a group of research-oriented Aalto employees who support researchers and students in questions related to research data management. The series includes topics such as Generative AI and copyright, Prompt engineering for research and Artificial Intelligence and responsible research. Unite! aims to be a European driver of open science and innovation. Our objective is to enhance open science competencies in the partner universities and wider in the society.

In our Unite! Horizon2020 project we have been exploring the best practices and current gaps in the open science initiatives of the Unite! member universities. Learning from each other is the essence of open science. Come meet Aalto’s researcher experts and join the discussion!

Unite! Seed Fund 2025. Call for Applications

The deadline for all submissions is March 20, 2025, with various matchmaking events scheduled to help participants find partners for their projects

The Unite! Alliance is pleased to announce the opening of the call for the Unite! Seed Fund 2025, a fund designed to support innovative and collaborative projects among the alliance’s member universities. This fund offers financial support to students, researchers, and professors who wish to initiate joint initiatives between at least three Unite! universities (and at least two for student proposals), encouraging collaboration and excellence in education, research, and innovation.

Research&PhD and Teaching&Learning proposals must address on the Unite! Focus Areas: Sustainable Energy; Artificial Intelligence; Industry 4.0; Entrepreneurship; Engineering Biology (and Biotechnology); Space; Cybersecurity; and Sustainable Cities & Water.

Proposals will be evaluated based on their overall quality, sustainability and long-term perspectives, and potential impact.

 

The 2025 Seed Fund call includes three categories:

Student Activities Call

Deadline: The deadline for contacting Unite! Student Liaison Officer in each university is 6 March 2025.
The deadline for presenting the proposals is March 20, 2025.

Available budget: Up to €20,000 per project, with a total of €100,000 available to fund proposals involving at least two Unite! universities.

Objective: Funding for collaborative projects that bring value to the student community, such as exhibitions, events, competitions, hackathons, or extracurricular activities in any format (in-person, hybrid, or digital).

Virtual matchmaking event: February 11, 2025, 14:00 – 16:00 CET.

 

Teaching and Learning Call

Deadline: March 20, 2025

Available budget: Up to €80,000 per project, depending on the number of participating universities, with a total of €230,000.

Objective: To promote the creation of joint teaching programs, especially at the master’s level, focused on Unite!’s focus areas areas.

Virtual matchmaking event: February 12, 2025, 14:00 – 16:00 CET.

 

Research and PhD Call

Deadline: March 20, 2025

Available budget: Up to €80,000, depending on the number of participating universities, with a total of €350,000.

Objective: To foster collaborative research in strategic areas such as Energy, Biotechnology, Cybersecurity, and more, with projects involving at least three Unite! universities.

Virtual matchmaking event: February 14, 2025, 13:00 – 15:00 CET.

Doctoral research grant opportunities at ULisboa

The fourth call for 5 PhD Fellowships Unite! priority areas is now open until 28 February 2025.

Together with our Alliance, the University of Lisbon, in collaboration with Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) will award 5 PhD Fellowships in 4 Unite! key areas:  

  • Artificial intelligence   
  • Energy – Batteries 
  • Hydrogen and Smart Cities 
  • Industry 4.0   

Other fields of research will also be considered. 

The expected research work will be carried out, in whole or in part, at ULisboa, preferably in collaboration with another institution already cooperating with ULisboa. The grants will be funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. 

All the application procedures, including submission, evaluation, results communication, preliminary hearings, claims, and appeals will be carried out online.

Submit your ideas for the 2nd Unite!-Ed Future Conference until January 24th

The 2nd Unite!-Ed Future Conference – Reimagining Education for AI ready graduates – will be a showcase for Seed Funding Projects and a matchmaking event for those interested in joint teaching and joint programmes. The conference offers an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas with focus on, for example, interaction in digital and hybrid learning environments, student-centered learning and various aspects of sustainable development.

The Unite! community is invited to submit proposals for the program. This could be a short talk about your latest teaching and learning innovation or experiences with new pedagogical approaches, as well as short online workshops in topics of relevance to the conference theme. The conference will be online via Zoom, on March 13. 

The Teaching and Learning (TaL) activities are aimed at teaching staff, lecturers and faculty in all Unite! partner institutions – including Ph.D. students and postdocs involved with teaching – who are interested in sharing and developing teaching and learning practices.

Teaching at large scale seminar/workshop

We invite you to participate in a workshop on Zoom on the 19 and 25 November between 13.00 and 15.00 (CET), to discuss and share ideas about organizing and managing large classes across various disciplines and universities.
Large-scale pedagogy in higher education institutions has become an issue of paramount concern. Therefore, it is imperative to understand how teachers from different universities and disciplines handle large classes.

Those participants who are willing to share experiences will spend 10-15 minutes presenting ideas, after which there will be time for discussions and questions.  The seminars/workshops are scheduled for 19 and 25 November between 13.00 and 15.00 (CET). The events are open to all faculty or people interested in pedagogical development within Unite!

Training in Research Data Management and Open Science

The Finnish Aalto University is organizing a free series of thirteen training webinars on research data management and open science. Researchers, students, and administrative staff from Unite! universities are invited to participate.

The webinar topics include, among others:

● Introduction to research data management
● AI and research work
● Exploring machine learning in research
● Artificial intelligence, medical decision-making, and research ethics

The first training is scheduled for October 9, with the final session taking place at the beginning of December. The sessions will be led by experts in research data management. Last academic year, nearly 2,000 registrations were made for the series they conducted.
