This tradition, born in Wroc\u0142aw, continues to inspire as it expands its reach across Europe.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content-new\">\n<div id=\"parent-fieldname-text\" class=\"\">\n<p>The Night-time Letter Writing initiative, first introduced at Wroc\u0142aw Tech in 2017, has become a beacon of community and solidarity across Europe. This event, where participants write heartfelt letters by hand rather than typing them on a computer, unites universities under a shared mission of empathy and inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>The Night-time Letter Writing initiative, launched in 2017 at Wroc\u0142aw Tech, has grown into a cherished tradition uniting universities across Europe. Participants gather to handwrite letters that support various charitable causes, fostering empathy, inclusion, and community spirit. This year\u2019s events, hosted by Wroc\u0142aw, Darmstadt, Lisbon, and Graz, focused on supporting students with disabilities, financial needs, and promoting well-being. With over 5,000 letters written since its inception, the initiative highlights the power of collective action and has become a beacon of solidarity and goodwill within the academic community.<\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Wroc\u0142aw: Where It All Began<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">November 19, 2024<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, Wroc\u0142aw Tech hosted the 8th edition of the Night-time Letter Writing event. Almost 200 participants gathered to write letters requesting support for scholarships for students with disabilities and special needs. These scholarships recognize academic excellence and achievements in science, sports, and social engagement. Special guests included members of the\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rapid Troopers Science Club<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, who presented an innovative prosthetic hand grip.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rector\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Prof. Arkadiusz W\u00f3js<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0expressed his gratitude:<\/span><br \/>\n<i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8220;I am deeply moved to be here once again and to see familiar faces from previous editions as well as new participants joining us. It warms my heart to see that at Wroc\u0142aw Tech, we look around with kindness and recognize those in need of our help and support. For this, I thank you all sincerely.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Prof.\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Katarzyna Jach<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the university\u2019s plenipotentiary for accessibility, remarked:<\/span><br \/>\n<i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8220;This is the warmest and most moving activity at our university. I am thrilled to see such a broad and diverse group of people joining the letter-writing effort each year. It brings our community together around a truly good idea.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The first letter-writing marathon was organized at Wroc\u0142aw in 2017. Since then, over\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">5,000 letters have been written<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, raising an impressive sum of money. The idea also resonated with other Unite! communities. In 2023, during the\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Unite!4Future competition<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the initiative was introduced to other universities within the network, spreading goodwill across Europe. And it worked! Similar events have since been organized at other universities in the alliance.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Darmstadt: Creativity and Connection<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">TU Darmstadt<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the Night-time Letter Writing event took place on\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">November 15, 2024<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, in the historic old main building. Organized by\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">International Student Services<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and supported by the\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">SchreibCenter<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and the\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Center for Educational Development and Technology<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the evening emphasized reflection and personal connection. Guided by\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dr. Vanessa Geuen<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Dipl.-P\u00e4d. Diana Seyfarth<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, participants explored creative writing through prompts and exercises, fostering a sense of belonging within the diverse university community.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Lisbon: A Gesture of Solidarity<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">University of Lisbon<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0hosted its edition on\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">November 21, 2024<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Participants wrote letters aimed at raising funds for the\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Alumni Solid\u00e1rio Scholarships<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, which support first-cycle students with financial needs and academic merit. Former students and external companies joined the event, underlining its solidarity. The\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">President of the ULisboa Alumni Association, Professor Am\u00e9lia Lou\u00e7\u00e3o<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, received the letters in a symbolic ceremony, showcasing the power of community action.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Graz: Well-being and Generosity<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">TU Graz<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0joined the movement on\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">November 13, 2024<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, hosting an event centered on student and employee well-being. Alongside writing letters for charitable causes, participants explored the university\u2019s health services and enjoyed refreshments, small thank-you gifts, and a raffle.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">A Growing Legacy<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Night<\/span>&#8211;<span data-contrast=\"auto\">time Letter Writing is an initiative that supports sustainability goals as part of the university&#8217;s social responsibility.
